The goal of this product is to implement search function where a visitor may select the category filter as well as product search filter Manufacturer, Model, and Year of their desired products using simple drop-downs and then view a list of products of his\/her interest to order.<\/div>\n

Installation Steps for Product Selector Extension<\/span><\/h2>\n

1. Take a backup of the Magento files before replacing<\/p>\n

2. Extract the files inside Magento Installation Root Magento_App_Root folder is same as your Magento Installation directory<\/p>\n

3. Folder structure for default theme \\Magento_App_Root\\app\\design\\frontend\\default\\<default>\\template Where <default> folder is based on default theme. Please copy the template folder into your specific theme folder<\/p>\n

Note:<\/b>
\nFor Magento 1.3.x, the template folder structure is
\nMagento_App_Root\/app\/design\/frontend\/default\/default\/template\/catalog\/product<\/p>\n

For Magento 1.4.x, 1.5.x, 1.6.x, 1.7.x, 1.8.x, 1.9.x the template folder structure would be
\nMagento_App_Root\/app\/design\/frontend\/base\/default\/template\/catalog\/product<\/p>\n

Steps to be followed in admin panel to setup attributes<\/b><\/p>\n

Step 1:<\/b>\u00a0Create Attribute
\nCatalog -> Attributes -> Manage Attribute<\/p>\n

\nSelect all option yes for Use in quick search, Use in advanced search, Comparable on Front-end, Use In Search Results Layered Navigation, Allow HTML-tags on Front-end,Visible on Product View Page on Front-end, Used in product listing, Used for sorting in product listing<\/p>\n

Similarly Create attributes “make” and “model”.<\/b><\/p>\n

Please make a note of the Attribute Code. It should be (year,make,model)<\/b><\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/b>\u00a0Create Attribute Set<\/p>\n

Catalog -> Attributes -> Manage AttributeSet<\/p>\n

Click the button Add New under Groups
\nYou can find a pop up Explore User Prompt. Please enter the group name\u00a0\u201cProduct Selector\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

A group will be created at the end you can drag and drop to your respective location.

And kindly drag and drop the attributes Unassigned Attributes to the group \u201cProduct Selector\u201d you have created.<\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/b>\u00a0Add Products<\/p>\n

Catalog -> Manage Products -> Add Product

You can find a new tab Product Selector added. Fill in all the required details and assign the product to a category.(Follow the require steps to add products in order to make the product display in client panel).<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/b>\u00a0Add a new page for Product Selector<\/p>\n

CMS -> Manage Pages -> Add New Page<\/p>\n

Page Title:\u00a0Product Selector<\/b>
\nSelf URL: product-selector
\nStatus: Enabled<\/p>\n

After placing the category-search.phtml file in the respective page you can view the url\u00a0http:\/\/<\/a><your website>\/index.php\/ product-selector<\/p>\n

\nIf you use a different Attribute code when creating the attributes, you need to change in the following lines in
\n<Magento_App_Root>\/app\/code\/local\/Globalecom\/Productselector\/controllers\/CategorysearchController.php file (Step 1: Screen 2)<\/b><\/p>\n

<Magento_App_Root>\/app\/design\/frontend\/base or (Your Theme Folder)\/default\/template\/catalog\/product\/category-search.phtml<\/b><\/p>\n

Changes required in\u00a0CategorysearchController.php<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0category-search.phtml<\/b><\/p>\n

Please follow the instructions below to uninstall Product Selector Extension and remove from your website.

\nand change it to false
\nRefresh the Cache in admin panel->System->Cache Management<\/strong>
\nStep 2: <\/strong>Remove the file category-search.phtml in the following location.
