Overview<\/a><\/h2>\n

The goal of this product is to implement search function where a visitor may select the Year, Make, and model of their vehicle(s) using simple drop-downs and then view a list of the vehicles or parts or accessories which will fit their vehicle.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/b>
\nBefore you installing the YMM Professional Extension files in your server,<\/p>\n

In your phpmyadmin, Please check the Variables in your database, In that increase the size of “max_allowed_packet” variable from 1,048,576 to 32,048,576<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Then, You can start the installation of YMM Professional extension.<\/p>\n

How to Install Year Make Model Professional Extension <\/span><\/h2>\n

1. Take a backup of the Magento files before replacing<\/p>\n

2. Extract the files, inside folder “YmmeSearch_Professional_Updated”<\/p>\n

3. Magento Installation Root Magento_App_Root folder is same as your Magento Installation directory<\/p>\n

3. Folder structure for default theme Magento_App_Root\/app\/design\/frontend\/default\/<theme><\/em><\/strong>\/template Where <theme><\/strong> folder is based on default theme.<\/p>\n

Please copy the files from “Magento_App_Root\/app\/design\/frontend\/base\/default\/template\/catalog\/product” folder into your specific theme folder.<\/p>\n

Example theme folder is: app\/design\/frontend\/default\/modern<\/strong><\/em>\/template\/catalog\/product<\/p>\n

Steps to be followed in admin panel to setup attributes<\/b><\/h3>\n

Step 1:<\/b> Catalog -> Attributes -> Manage Attribute. Then Click the button \u201cAdd New Attribute\u201d<\/p>\n

Unique value: No
\nValues Required: Yes
\nSelect all option yes for Use in quick search, Use in advanced search, Comparable on Front-end, Use In Search Results Layered Navigation, Allow HTML-tags on Front-end, Visible on Product View Page on Front-end, Used in product listing, Used for sorting in product listing<\/p>\n

Similarly Create attributes\u00a0 “v_model” and “make”<\/b>
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

Please make a note of the 3 Attribute Codes. It should be\u00a0 “make”, “v_model”,\u00a0“year”<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/b> Assign attributes to Attribute Set<\/p>\n

Catalog -> Attributes -> Manage Attribute Set<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n

Then Click on Default. Note: You may choose a different Attribute set appropriately depending on which products you want to setup Year Make Model Search.<\/p>\n

Click the button Add New under Groups<\/p>\n

You can find a pop up Explore User Prompt. Please enter the group name \u201cYearMakeModel\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

A group will be created at the end you can drag and drop to your respective location.<\/p>\n

And kindly drag and drop the attributes under Unassigned Attributes under the group you have created.<\/p>\n

Step 3:\u00a0<\/b> Enter Year Make Model data<\/p>\n

Catalog -> Manage Products -> Select a Product<\/p>\n

Note:\u00a0 This product is using the attribute set that is referred in Step 2<\/p>\n

You can find a new tab YearMakeModel<\/strong><\/em> on the left side. Fill in all the required details and assign the product to a category as needed.<\/p>\n

Note: Make, Model and Year can take multiple values if the product has several vehicle fitments. Please enter values in comma separated format. For Example:<\/p>\n

Make=Honda, Toyota, Ford<\/p>\n

Model=Accord, Camry, Focus<\/p>\n

Year=2006,2007,2008,2009,2010,2011,2012,2013,2014<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/b> Setup a new page for Year Make Model Search in website front end<\/p>\n

Admin Panel >> CMS >>Manage Pages >>Add New Page<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Page Title: YmmSearch<\/b>

\nStatus: Enabled<\/p>\n

How to use a different Attribute?\u00a0 For example, if you want to use attribute “Brand” instead of “Make”<\/b>
\nIf you use a different Attribute code when creating the attributes, you need to change in the following lines in the files\u00a0 below:

a) Move to the location app\/design\/frontend\/default\/<theme>\/layout\/ Select catalog.xml<\/b> file<\/p>\n
b) Find the following text \u201c<reference name=”right”>\u201d<\/b> for right bar. Place the below code inside your reference for the \u201cright\u201d. Similar procedure can be followed for \u201cleft\u201d<\/p>\n

Make-Model Correlation is implemented using Year Make Model Master<\/em> database table. Example of Correlation is “Civic is a model of Honda”.\u00a0 For Importing Master Records of Year Make Model , Please install the YMM Data Importer<\/b> module in your site.
